Journal Entry #5

5 things that i understand
1. She had seen a ten boy who had been haunted by a spirit and decided to cats the spirit away from the boy.
2. She hears multiple voices of angels around her.
3. She had seen a powerful angel pushing the automobile of her protectee.
4. After seeing this she heard a voice in which explained to her the the church would go back to the lord.
5. She believes that with God's help a human can do anything.

1. The lord began speaking to her spirit and he told her to take the keys to the kingdom.
2. She watched a large angel who was powerful in which who dropped to the ground.
3. Demons attack you through ur emotions.
4. She explains the devil as being very crafty.
5. She sees that there are an unlimited amount of demons who are swarming the earth.

1. She saw god as a healer and the ultimate power.
2. God showed her that the power of god is within us all.
3. God showed her the pains of hell.
4. She explains that it isnt engough just to preach the word of god.
5. God is still accessing the devil in her eyes.

Journal Entry #2



5 things that i understand

1. She found that God was having more than 1 problem with the evil spirits.

2. She believed that evil spirits were created from people who would do wrong.

3. She discovered that many people did not believe in the lord and continued to express a dislike in people who did not believe that he is real.

4. God had showed her that the most precious people to his kingdom were corrupted.

5. Hse believed that the demon of fear had taken over her.

1. Mary Baxter had been in a state in which she continues to question Jesus on why angels continue that battle with demons. She is deeply religious and believes that every action occurs due to God's will.
2. She believes that God had shown her the spirit world yet no one has yet to believe her
3. She had taken a trip to hell and had seen a woman in the pit of doom.
4. Jesus had impressed her heart by teaching her on how to escape the pains of life ans sufferings.
5. She believes that whe word of god is true.

Journal Entry #6

  1. The movie starts off with her cutting vegetables and the director increases the volume of the cutting so that the veiwer is able to see the duty she is being put o.
  2. The mother seems a lot older than in the book.
  3. The fathers eyes were not sewn shut.
  4. The director fails to show the Vermeers visiting the ous of Greit.
  5. The director uses an establishing shot to emphasize the towns size.
  6. The house was not what I pictured it to be because it seems they are poorer than i expected.
  7. I expected Tanneke to be much skinnier than she is.
  8. There were no mentionings of pets in the book.
  9. The director did not establish the hardships and opening s of Griets first day.
  10. Catharnia is alot more beautiful in the movie than in the book.
  11. I pictured the studio to be alot more luxorious but it helped established the family's wealth as being middle class.
  12. Griet does not speak as much in the movie as she does in the book.
  13. Maria Thins is a lot more ruder in the movie and does not seem to establish her liking for Griet as she does in the book.
  14. There is no confliction between Tanneke and Griet as in the book.
  15. The reasoning for Catharnia not being able to set forth in the studio is different compared to the movie. Catharnia had not been able to set forth in the movie because she had tried to destroy a past painting but in the book they do not establish this.
  16. The movie adds a scne in which Griet goes to the housing of van Ruijven.
  17. The children do not play as big a role in the movie as they do in the book.
  18. Anges and Frans are not mentioned in the movie at all.
  19. A dolly shot is used when Pieter and Griet are wlking together in a park setting.
  20. At the part in which Griet as to go to the apocerathy in order to obtain medicine for the baby, the master hands her the list of items needed rather sending i done in a leather pouch.
  21. The ending is different because they do not shiw her when she is older and Tanneke gives her the pearls immediately after she leaves. She also keeps the earring rather than selling them and she does not get married to Pieter.

5 things that I understand


1. When the master had come to realize that his painting was finished and would please only Van Ruijven, he decided that i needed something.


2. He had discovered the contents of Griets hair and this was her transformation into womanhood.


3. He made Griet pierce her ear so that she may wear his wife's pearl earrings.


4. She married Pieter after leaving the household when Catharnia discovered that Griet had been wearing her earrings.


5. Griet had sold the earrings which the master had left in his will after he died.

1. Why didnt the master and Maria confess to haven taken the earrings?
